Profile

Devereux Communications assists corporate and business clients, trade associations, and political candidates in various elements of public and government affairs.

Knowing how to communicate is only part of the answer to any public relations program.  An effective game plan requires strategic thinking, planning, message development and execution.  A little creativity doesn’t hurt either!

In September 2005, Stan Devereux opened the doors of his own public relations firm in Sacramento, California.  Immediately, Stan was asked to be the spokesman of one of California’s high-profile ballot initiatives.  He successfully managed the statewide communications and the initiative out-performed all other measures on the ballot.

Soon after, Stan took on the role of campaign manager and communications director of another high profile political campaign, the special election in the 50th congressional district.  In a little more than two months, Stan and his team took a political unknown and came within one percent of defeating more than a dozen other candidates in the race; including a former Congressman, a former Assemblyman, an incumbent state Senator, an NFL star and and three millionaires.

With communications experience in the public and private sector, in television news, and in trade association management, Stan’s reputation continues to grow and he is rapidly building a successful public relations firm.

This is a public relations company where wisdom, honesty, courtesy, skill and fun are taken seriously, and excellent client service is expected and delivered daily.

Previously, Stan was the Director of Public & Government Affairs at the California Earthquake Authority.  He is also a former Assistant State Treasurer and Director of Communications to California State Treasurer Matt Fong (1994-1998). He was External Affairs Manager at the Western States Petroleum Association.

Devereux’s extensive experience spans nearly 23 years having held positions in both the public and private sector.  He began his career in television news as a reporter, anchor and producer along the West Coast.  Devereux is a graduate of Washington State University and the Edward R. Murrow School of Communications.
